Scholarships Announced for 2008 Graduates Valerie York received a $500 McCune Alumni scholarship as well as the $500 Science/Technology scholarship funded by a single anonymous Alum. Jamie Han, Tracy Bennett and Eric Jordan received $500 McCune Alumni scholarships. Jamie, Tracy, and Eric also received $400 each from the Maxine Quenoy Wilson Memorial Scholarship fund. Members of the scholarship committee are: Warren McGown, Frank Page, and Marian Kutz. Scholarships Announced for 2007 Graduates The committee has announced the scholarship recipients for the year: Jackson Dalrymple, Victoria Johnson, Kelsey MeElroy, and Asher Merritt will receive $300 scholarships. All are 2003 graduates of McCune eighth grade. Both Asher and Jackson also will receive a $500 technical scholarship. One is awarded by a single anonymous alum, and the other by the Association. Recipients will be introduced at the September 22 meeting. Those serving on the scholarship committee are Marian Kutz, Frank Page, and Warren McGown. Warren McGown, scholarship chairman, announced the recipients. To qualify for the $300 grant, students have to be a 2006 graduating high school senior, and a 2002 eighth grade graduate of McCune School. They were required to suppy three sealed letters of recommendation and to supply a proper "thank you" to the Association by letter or in person at the meeting on September 23, 2006. Students receiving $300 were: Paula Barker; Wes Conrood; Kyle Neblett; Tony Rauniker; Megan Rennie; Whitney Ulery; Stefanie Varner; and Kevin Wells. A single $500 scholarship donated by a single alum was awared to Megan Rennie. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must meet all the criteria for the $300 scholarship plus he/she must be entering a science or computer field. The student must have a high grade point average verified by a school counselor. All students must provide proof of enrollment to treasurer Kathy Stewart. Scholarship monies will be awarded over the first two semesters of 2006-2007. Mrs. Ada Viets, Scholarship committee chairperson, announced the alumni scholarship recipients for the year. All were 2001 graduates of McCune eighth grade: Those receiving $300 were Braden Buzard; Greg Clawson; Carmen Gray; Jesse Merritt; Clint Rider; and Natalie Ritchal. Greg Clawson also received the $500 technical scholarship offered by a single generous McCune Alumn. Those serving on the scholarship committee were Marian Kutz, Frank Page, and Ada. We thank them. Ada Viets also announced her retirement from the Committee. We are grateful for her many years of service. Warren McGown has accepted a position on the committee. Recipients were introduced at the Alumni meeting on September 24, 2005, and presented with a certificate from the Association. The money was dispersed to each student over two semesters with proof of enrollment. 2004 Scholarships Awarded to MGS Grads The Scholarship Committee on behalf of the Alumni Association again awarded six $300 scholarships and one $500 scholarship to High School Seniors, who graduated from McCune Grade School in 2000. Recipients were: Aaron Bowin, son of Richard and Sherry Bowin, Tessa Goff, daughter of Tom and Joyce Goff; Alan Hibdon, son of Gale Hibdon; Ashley Hiller, daughter of Merlin and Elizabeth Hiller; Bo McGown, son of Warren and Karen McGown; James Needham, son of Thomas and Alice Richardson. Bo McGown was also awarded the $500 scholarship for science and technology given by a single anonymous alumni. Checks were awarded by the treasurer Hattie Turkington upon proof of enrollment. All recipients were introduced at the Alumni meeting in September 2004. Those serving on the Scholarship Committee were Ada Viets, chair, Marian Kutz, and Frank Page.
